Recent Program Performance
Declining volatility in the equity markets resulted in a performance pullback in our intraday trading. For clients of the Blended Advantage program this was offset by overnight trading, which tends to outperform in low volatility situations.
The Big Picture
A Trump win was likely priced into the markets in the few weeks before election, we find it somewhat surprising to not see a "sell on the news" reaction. Of course there are numerous fundamental implications tied to a Republican controlled government. The sweeping victory in all branches indicates a real possibility of significant policy shift.
It is said that markets hate uncertainty more than bad news, and while we understand that Trump's playbook is often to make inflated claims, it may be that implementation of radical policy shift results in some unforeseen results.
